Do you wish you could feel healthier? Are you hoping to avoid or manage chronic health conditions that are linked to lifestyle choices? Health coaching may be a good choice for you. Health coaching can support clients in leading a more active lifestyle, eating a healthier diet, managing chronic health conditions, improving sleep and reducing stress.

What is Health Coaching?

Health coaching is a partnership in which the client and the coach collaborate on health goals. The client is in charge of the focus of the coaching sessions and the coach listens, observes and questions leading the client to self discovery, clarity and action.

What does the coaching process look like?

Before the first meeting I ask clients to provide some background information about their goals and medical limitations. This helps the you start the process of determining what you want to focus on and gives me some general information so that I can prepare for the first meeting.

The first session is usually between 60 and 90 minutes long. In this meeting we discuss the coaching agreement, which defines fees and the roles and responsibilities of the coach and the client. You commit to a coaching plan, usually 3 months long, and we figure out the frequency of the meetings and how they will take place (in person or online). This first meeting is also when I start to get to know you, your values and behavioural goals. Sometimes a few goals will be created to work on before the next meeting. The type of goals can vary widely for each client depending on how ready they are for change and how much knowledge they have with respect to their health conditions and goals.

Subsequent sessions are 45-60 minutes long and will begin with checking in on your progress with respect to your previous goals. You then choose the topic to work on in the current meeting. We end the session with the you stating the goals you will work on before your next meeting.

We continue to meet to focus on your strengths, reignite motivation and find solutions to meet the client’s goals.

In the final session we discuss your progress and your continuing goals going forward. We look at what supports and strategies you have built that you can rely on if setbacks happen.

If needed, you can book additional appointments with me to continue being coached or to help get you back on track if you have a relapse.
